An Alexandria man who was a suspect in a purse snatching earlier this month was captured Friday, according to police.

Frank J. Sanders Jr. was identified as the suspect in an Aug. 11 purse snatching at the CVS Pharmacy on Bolton Avenue, according to the Alexandria Police Department release. On Aug. 19, the department had issued a plea for help from the public, along with two photos of the suspect taken from the store's surveillance system.

After Sanders was developed as the suspect, he was apprehended in the Bolton and Rapides avenues area on Friday by members of the U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Task Force, according to the release.

The victim of the purse snatching suffered minor scratches.

Sanders, 23, of Bertie Street, was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center, charged with purse snatching. He remains in jail as of Monday afternoon.
