Alexandria man facing simple burglary charge

A Texas Avenue resident was awakened early Friday morning to find that his car had been burglarized for the second time in two days, according to a release.

The victim contacted Alexandria police at 12:16 a.m. after hearing the noise and seeing a man run from his vehicle. The driver's side front window had been shattered. The victim also said his car had been burglarized early on Thursday morning, reads the release.

Police got a description of the suspect, and the case was assigned to detectives.

"Further investigation into the above referenced incident by detectives, with assistance from the Patrol Division, led to the identification of Charles L. Coutee as the suspect who burglarized the complainant/victim on the 28th," reads the release.

Coutee was arrested on Friday after he was found at at a residence on Marye Street. He was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center and was charged with simple burglary.
