A Pineville Police officer shot a suspect Monday morning on Cummins Street after a disturbance call, according to a city spokesman.

A Pineville Police officer shot a suspect Monday morning on Cummins Street after a disturbance call, according to a city spokesman.

Pineville Police released a statement that said a call was received at 10:14 a.m. that a person in the 500 block of Cummins Street had threatened another with a weapon.

The suspect allegedly exited a house with a sword and charged the officer, who shot the suspect multiple times, according to the spokesman. "Upon the arrival of officers they located a person armed in the street," reads the release. "One of the responding officers drew his weapon and shot the suspect."

The Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office has been notified and is on the scene to conduct the investigation with the Pineville Police.

The street is blocked off. The Town Talk has a reporter and photographers on the scene. The story will be updated as more information is received.
