Pollock inmates plead guilty in beating of fellow inmate

Two prisoners in the U.S. Penitentiary in Pollock pleaded guilty Wednesday to beating a fellow inmate so severely that it left him with a traumatic brain injury, according to a release.

Jeffrey Lovell, 32, and Christopher Simpson, 36, each pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Dee Drell to one count of assault resulting in serious bodily injury. The two inmates were shown on video beating another inmate on June 11, 2013, hitting him repeatedly in the head and torso, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office release.

The injured inmate was treated for a traumatic brain injury, which required the use of a feeding tube, at a local hospital.

Both Lovell and Simpson face up to 10 additional years in prison, three years supervised release and $250,000 fines. Sentencing is set for Feb. 13, 2015.
