Ball woman charged with cruelty to animals, battery

A Ball woman has been arrested after a witness said the woman threw three small dogs into a garbage dumpster at a convenience store in Deville, the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office reported.

Christie Lynn Lasyone of 622 Paradise Road, Ball, was charged with three counts of cruelty to animals and battery on a police officer.

When the deputy began to arrest Lasyone on an outstanding warrant on Friday, she became belligerent and hit the deputy, according to a release from the Sheriff's Office.

Lasyone is being held in the Rapides Parish Detention Center with bond set at $16,000.

The dogs — described as a brown terrier, a brown dachshund and a tan Yorkie — were returned to their owners unharmed, authorities said.
